UKTAF was created by Andy Hathaway, long time dojo cho of the London Aikido Club, a full-time dojo devoted to the Aikido of Morhiro Saito since the early 1980s.

The specific aims of UKTAF are to:
  • Preserve the aikido and teaching methods of Morihiro Saito Sensei
  • Remain close to the Aikikai Foundation
  • Disseminate Aikido in a spirit of friendship
  • Register dan ranks with the Aikikai
  • Build and maintain a library and archive material pertaining to the Aikido of Morihiro Saito Sensei
    Provide a national (UK-wide) focus to:
  • Organise seminars both nationally and internationally
  • Provide access to the British Aikido Board for members, which includes insuring students and instructors
  • To be able to create Aikido instructors according to the British Aikido Board remit
